Steiff first produced this mohair penguin in 1928, in honor of Richard Byrd's Antarctic expedition, which for the first time brought the beauty of this polar region to the world.

Today's Admiral penguin, handcrafted in Germany by the artisans at Steiff, mirrors the features that made the 1920s version so revolutionary. His legs, flippers, and beak are leather, and his beak and feet are complemented with hand-painted detailing. His beautiful brown pupil eyes, backed in wool felt, glow with a realistic depth and personality. To take you back to 1928, Admiral's elegant body is accented with light airbrushing to give him a vintage look.

This Steiff animal is hand made in Germany and carries the signature "Button in Ear" trademark (although this penguin has no ears, so it's on his flipper!) and chest tag. Admiral is packaged in a beautifully embroidered black drawstring bag to commemorate this Steiff North American Exclusive penguin.
